Overview
Singapore is the rare family destination that works at every pace. It's clean, safe, endlessly photographed and small enough that a dense five-day trip never feels like a treadmill. Gardens by the Bay, Sentosa and hawker-stall diplomacy — our tested rhythm keeps the kids entertained and the adults sane.
Getting Around
The MRT is superb, stroller-friendly and air-conditioned, and a Singapore Tourist Pass gives unlimited rides. Taxis and Grab are cheap by western standards for the short hops. The key to family success is anchoring each day in one neighbourhood so you're not criss-crossing the island.
Day-by-Day Itinerary
Day 1: Gardens by the Bay and the Supertrees
Start at the Gardens by the Bay: the Cloud Forest and Flower Dome are perfect for a humid afternoon, and the Supertree Grove's nightly light show is free and genuinely spectacular. Dinner at the nearby Satay by the Bay keeps it casual.
Day 2: Sentosa Island
Sentosa is the family day. Universal Studios, the S.E.A. Aquarium and the beaches all share one island, linked by monorail. If you only pick one big-ticket attraction here, make it Universal Studios — the whole day disappears happily.

Day 3: The Zoo and River Safari
The Singapore Zoo and the adjacent River Safari are world-class and deliberately un-caged. Morning arrival beats both the heat and the crowds. The Night Safari is a genuinely different experience if the kids have the stamina.
Day 4: Chinatown, Little India and Hawker Diplomacy
Spend the day eating your way through heritage districts. Maxwell Food Centre and Lau Pa Sat are the best places to crack the picky-eater problem — order plates to share, from chicken rice to chilli crab, and let the table decide. This is the day the grown-ups secretly love most.
Day 5: Marina Bay Sands and a Slow Send-Off
Walk the Marina Bay waterfront, ride the Singapore Flyer for the skyline view, and visit the art-science museum's interactive exhibits. Keep the afternoon light — a final swim and an early airport run. Changi Airport itself is an attraction, so arriving early isn't wasted time.
Budget at a Glance
A family of four can expect roughly $2,000-3,000 for five days including mid-range hotels, attractions and food. Attractions are the biggest line item, so booking bundle passes online saves 15-20%. Hawker centres keep meals at $5-10 per person without skimping.
