A desert safari is the classic Dubai adventure: a 4x4 driver takes you off the tarmac and into the dunes for a roller-coaster session of dune bashing, then stops at a desert camp for the evening. Most safaris run about six hours from hotel pickup to drop-off.
At the camp you'll find traditional touches — henna painting, camel rides, a short falconry display and a BBQ dinner under the open sky, often with a live dance show. The experience is timed so sunset happens right as you reach the dunes, which is when the desert is at its most photogenic.
